Jonah 2

Jonah’s Prayer

1
Ch 2:2 in Heb
Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God bfrom the stomach of the fish,
2and he said, “I ccalled out of my distress to the Lord,
And He answered me.
I cried for help from the
Lit belly
depth of eSheol;
You heard my voice.
3“For You had fcast me into the deep,
Into the heart of the seas,
And the current
Lit surrounded
engulfed me.
All Your hbreakers and billows passed over me.
4So I said, ‘I have been iexpelled from
Lit before Your eyes
Your sight.
Nevertheless I will look again ktoward Your holy temple.’
5 lWater encompassed me to the
Lit soul
point of death.
The great ndeep
Lit surrounded
engulfed me,
Weeds were wrapped around my head.
6“I pdescended to the roots of the mountains.
The earth with its qbars was around me forever,
But You have rbrought up my life from
Or corruption
the pit, O Lord my God.
7“While
Lit my soul...within me
I was ufainting away,
I vremembered the Lord,
And my wprayer came to You,
Into xYour holy temple.
8“Those who yregard
Lit empty vanities
vain idols
Forsake their faithfulness,
9But I will aasacrifice to You
With the voice of thanksgiving.
That which I have vowed I will abpay.
acSalvation is from the Lord.”

10Then the Lord commanded the adfish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.
